Every bride strives for that Bridal Glow on her big day and why not! It’s the one day that any women can and should enjoy being pampered and preened to perfection. Tanning can be a minefield, what tan should I use? Should I opt for a spray tan? Should I have a few days away before the wedding somewhere hot?

If you are opting for  a self tan that you have never used before or a spray tan then ensure you have a trial before hand. At least 3 weeks before the wedding day so that your skin has chance to heal if the glow is not as you would want it.

There are many self tans on sale and it really comes down to your own personal preference and how deep you prefer your tan to be. We presently love Isle of Paradise self-tanning mousse. We have found this gives a great natural looking tan and is packed full of goodies such as chia seeds and avocado which are amazing for your skin. St Tropez is also a personal favourite. We like St Tropez Gradual Tan Watermelon Infusion Moisture Miracle lotion which builds up a vegan tan to a very natural looking colour and has an gorgeous watermelon smell to it.

To achieve that all natural bridal glow with a self tan we have put together a step by step guide to a perfect tan.

The first step is to remove any unwanted body hair. Waxing is a fantastic way to lift dead skin cells which is key to a pre tan. Make an appointment at a salon you have used before and arrange the appointment at least 24 hours before tanning.

Ensure that you have exfoliated your whole body 12 hours beforehand to allow time for your pores and your skin to settle before your tan.

Following exfoliation make sure that you have fully moisturised your face and body. We would suggest that you use a lightweight moisturiser and one not heavy with oil as this could affect the finish of your tan.

Before your tan make sure that you have showered and gently exfoliate removing any make up or deodorant from the skin.

Always apply the tan with a tanning mitt to ensure a perfectly smooth application.

Once you have applied your tan allow your tan to dry naturally before putting any clothes on. A light weight dressing gown or light T shirt and bottoms work well to allow the tan absorbs fully into the skin.
